Let The Exodus Begin Back to Lyrics
Inspired by: Exodus 3:2, 7:14, 12:7, 14:26
In the land of Egypt, blaring sun, the whips would crack,
The Hebrew were in bondage, sweating blood and broken backs.
Them Egyptians build a monument to gods made of tin,
Them wicked hearts, their hollow gods,
Let the exodus begin.
The Hebrew were the chosen ones and God had heard their cries,
His love and his compassion brought him down from the skies.
A prince of Egypt found he was a Hebrew not a prince,
Was saved by God from genocide and protected ever since.
Jochebed was his mother and Moses was his name,
The burning bush, the Great “I AM” empowered him from shame.
With this staff My power; might and wonders will be yours,
But Rameses the Pharaoh will not listen by the shores.
I’m sending you, his brother, to deliver Hebrews from Egypt’s sin,
Them hollow hearts, their hollow gods,
Let the exodus begin.
I will tell you what to say to let my people go,
(Thus say the Lord.)
Their hearts are hard to words, but my powers they will show.
Moses spoke to Rameses as God had told him so,
The Lord commands the Hebrews freed, you let His people go.
Rameses was angered, full of rage and just said no,
As God has told him so.
So God sent a curse over Egypt, frogs and scourge and blood,
(Thus say the Lord.)
The sky was raining fire, crops and cattle died in mud.
Take the blood of a lamb and smear it on your doors and posts,
For the Angel of Death will swoop through the land,
Say the Lord of Hosts.
But you are safe, don’t be afraid, I will take you from their sin,
Them hollow hearts, their hollow gods,
Let the exodus begin.
(And Egypt cried again)(crying voices)
Take this staff, My powers; Might and wonders shall be yours,
(Thus say the Lord.)
He struck the bed of the great sea and it parts from shore to shore.
God’s power split the water by His love of Hebrew slaves,
While all of Egypt’s first-born were all lying in their graves.
Egyptian slave owners chased them down to the sea,
While Rameses, the Pharaoh hunts them down 1, 2, 3,
They walked across the seabed safely to the other side,
While Rameses empire crumbles from his stubbornness and pride.
A wall of water crashed down on the army like a stone,
Egyptian warriors washed away, the Pharaoh’s all alone.
I sent you, his brother, you save them from their sin,
Them hollow hearts, their hollow gods,
Let the exodus begin.
(And Egypt cried again...)
